PETE OLSON DOMINATES ROUND FIVE OF BRAC MTP FORMULA 2000
WITH POLE, 1ST, AND FASTEST LAP TO EXTEND CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD

In another inspired drive today, American Pete Olson took home his third winner's trophy for Round 5 of the
Bridgestone MTP Formula 2000 Championship up North.
Olson took today's pole, his fourth of the first five races in the Championship, by a solid margin and started the race in
typical style by aggressively boxing out the competition to take the lead by the end of the first corner.
The remainder of the half hour race was almost an anticlimax as Olson slowly and consistently pulled away from the field
to finish significantly ahead of the pack. Though there was no doubt in the minds of spectators and fellow competitors
as to who would win, Olson has a typically different take:
"Anything can happen in a race - your car could fail, a bad crash could red flag the race and cause a restart so you will
have to fight for the lead again, who knows? There is only one way I drive, and that is to get as far ahead as I can, to
win, to keep pushing it in every corner in every lap. I go into races quietly confident but no one truly knows the
outcome until you pass the checkered flag, and the only way to do that is to go flat out all the time. It's first place or
nothing."
"I want to dedicate this latest winner's trophy to my brother Matt" said Olson. "I was listening to a song that reminded
me of him this morning as I watched the sunrise over Ontario on the way to the track, and I could feel him there. He
gave me a lot of confidence because on the mornings where I really feel him there, I win."
We wish Pete the best of luck during his last F2000 race day, the concluding Rounds 6/7, both to be held the last
week of October, just four weeks away. Bridgestone rewards the deserving top driver of the BRAC MTP series a
lucrative fully-funded ride for the following year in Formula 2000. Will Olson be this year's Champion? - only one thing is
certain: There Can be Only One.
